Verbatim Releases a Variety of New Storage Media
Verbatim Corporation has announced the availability of new CD and tape media. The first of Verbatim's CD offerings is pre-formatted DirectCD 4X CD-RW media, which, according to the company, provides 533MB of space and can be rewritten up to 1,000 times. DirectCD 4X CD-RW media is available at a suggested retail price of $6 per disc.
Verbatim has also announced its DataLifePlus 12X CD-Recordable discs. DataLifePlus 12X CD-Recordable discs are certified for use with Sanyo's forthcoming 12X CD recorder. DataLifePlus CD-R discs have a suggested retail price of $2.49.
Verbatim has also made its 70GB ADR tape cartridges available. The ADR cartridges are designed for OnStream Inc.'s Advanced Digital Recording (ADR) Drives. The 70GB cartridge will have an estimated street price of $69.95.
Finally, Verbatim has announced the availability of its DDS4 DAT cartridges, which can store up to 20GB of uncompressed data, and 40GB of compressed data. According to Verbatim, the DDS4 has a data retention life of at least tan years. The 40GB DDS4 cartridges are compatible with DDS tape drives, and have a suggested retail price of $57.75.
