Heidelberg's PFM-2 folder module gives Sunday 2000 presses equipped with a PCF-1 combination folder the ability to deliver magazine, square-tab and slim-jim signatures that are open on three sides. With two standard formers, the PFM-2 can reportedly deliver two eight-page signatures or four four-page signatures from a four-page-wide press. With a six-unit-wide, 24-page Sunday 2000, it can also deliver two 12-page magazine signatures.

The freestanding unit incorporates a double-cut signature creation technique and Decel Drum technology, which are said to improve signature control and reduce sensitivity to pagination, paper weight and ink-coverage variations. In the two-step signature creation process, a combined nip and knife roller perforates the ribbon. Tapes aligned with the perforations then grip the ribbon when a second roller completes the separation of the signature by cutting the non-perforated areas.
